Student Talent and Alumni Relation Services (STARS) core functions are divided into Student Talent Services and Alumni Relation Services.

Student Talent Services functions as a support system for students who wish to seek information and experience for their future careers.

Alumni Relation Services aims to develop and strengthen ties between our Alumni and the University by providing the following services:

The UNITAR Alumni is handled by the Student Affairs Department of UNITAR International University.

Our goal is to build a new constituency of proactive alumni and honorary alumni as well as "pre-alumni" (current UNITAR students) as friends, advocates and contributors to UNITAR International University.

To fulfill this objective, we will engage with the alumni in a wide range of programmes that include:

• Reunion activities such as social, cultural and recreational events
• Alumni newsletter and speaker series in collaboration with Student Affairs Department and Communications Office Host recruitment activities, seminars and workshops
• Networking opportunities for students and alumni as they build relationships to bond with one another and their alma mater
• Alumni discount offers and industry partner discounts

We seek to engage all UNITAR's alumni in a mutually beneficial, lifelong connection with each other and to encourage our alumni to provide support and guidance to advance UNITAR's reputation for future generations.

This policy may be cited as the UNITAR International University (UNITAR) Alumni Discount Scheme Policy and is effective on 1st May 2016 until further notice.

The purpose of this Alumni Discount Scheme Policy is to define the guiding principles in providing benefits in the form of financial discounts to Alumni who previously enrolled into UNITAR's academic programmes.

For the purpose of this Alumni Discount Scheme Policy, Alumni refers to

1. Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. graduates of UNITAR;
2. Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. graduates of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) who enrolled at PINTAR Campus Kelana Jaya, UNITAR Petaling Jaya and Regional Centres;
3. Former employees of UNITAR Capital Sdn. Bhd.

Subject to terms and conditions provided in this Alumni Discount Scheme Policy, Alumni in principle would be entitled to the following financial benefits:

4. LOYALTY - SIBLINGS RM220 Registration Fee waiver; AND 10% discount on Course Fee	Applicable to: siblings of former and current students of UNITAR and UNIRAZAK; siblings of current employees of UNITAR

1. Subject to terms and conditions provided in this Alumni Discount Scheme Policy, Alumni in principle would be entitled to the following financial benefits:

      1. Ten per cent (10%) discount on the entire programme's tuition fee for both local and international students enrolled into any of UNITAR's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (refer to the table below); and
      2. The ten per cent (10%) discount will apply on a semester basis based on actual tuition fees for courses registered in any semester, excluding courses registered:
         • As repeat due to failure in the first attempt and/or for purpose of betterment in grade; and/or
         • Not within the programme structure.

2. This discount is extended to Alumni's immediate family member(s) (spouse and children).
3. Subject to terms and conditions provided in this Alumni Discount Scheme Policy, the financial benefits are not claimable, refundable or transferrable in cash.

1. Subject to approval by the Career Placement and Alumni Relations Department (CPARD) or other unit assigned by UNITAR to handle alumni relations, Alumni must meet the following conditions to be eligible for this Alumni Discount Scheme:
   • Enrolled into any of UNITAR's Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. programmes at UNITAR's main campus, branch campuses or regional centres;
   • Not have any outstanding amounts owing to UNITAR at the point of enrolment; and
   • Not have any pending disciplinary case(s) or previous disciplinary conviction(s) by UNITAR's Disciplinary Board or UNIRAZAK's Disciplinary Board.
2. Effective date of commencement of Alumni Discount Scheme is at the sole discretion of the Student Talent and Alumni Relation Services (STARS).

Alumni are not eligible for this Alumni Discount Scheme under any or combination of the following conditions:

• Holders of UNITAR's or UNIRAZAK's Foundation programmes; and
• Recipients of UNITAR's sponsorship, scholarship and discount.

Alumni will be disqualified from this Alumni Discount Scheme under any or combination of the following conditions:

• Alumni withdraw from enrolled UNITAR's academic programme;
• Alumni are dismissed (academic and/or disciplinary) from enrolled UNITAR's academic programme;
• Alumni are deregistered from enrolled UNITAR's academic programme; and
• Alumni breach any of the terms and conditions stipulated in this Alumni Discount Scheme policy and UNITAR's rules and regulations.

Any prior applicable Alumni loyalty, discount or campaign schemes are hereby repealed.

UNITAR reserves the right to vary, amend, or suspend any of the terms and conditions of this Alumni Discount Scheme at any time without prior notice and Alumni are bound by the varied, amended, or suspended terms and conditions.

FARDZREN AZIZUDDIN
Diploma in Culinary Arts / Grad Year 2009 / Current employer: Shangri-la Hotel, Singapore

I would like to share my experience and success, which I've achieved in life as a graduate of Diploma in Culinary Arts at UNITAR batch of 2007-2009. I started my first semester at UNITAR Petaling Jaya (ITTAR) and graduated at UNITAR Kelana Jaya. I am very grateful for what I've learned at UNITAR and for what I have achieved today. After completing my studies, I worked at several leading 5 star hotels in Kuala Lumpur and all over Malaysia, such as Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa and Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

I also took part in various cooking competitions and won Silver Medal in "FHM"s Meat Cooking' and Gold Medal for "FHM's Malay Cuisine". Also, I'm one of the Semi Finalists in the "Black Box Challenge" of Penang's Chapter and amongst the selected 5 contestants to represent Malaysia in Chaine des Rotisseurs, Istanbul 2010. Alhamdulillah and I am blessed that I was offered a job in Doha, Qatar and it was there that I won a Bronze Medal in "Terrine and Patte Showpieces" at the Middle East Gulf Country Diyafa Salon Culinaire 2012.

Now I have returned to Asia where I have accepted an offer from one of the Shangri-La hotels that was first opened back in 1971, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, as a Malay Cuisine Sous Chef. I would like to say thank you to my parents who gave me their support and of course to all the lecturers at UNITAR, and also my friends. Without the education and encouragement from all of you, I would not be where I am today.

KALPANA A/P KOKULANATHAN
Bachelor of Education (Hons) / Grad Year 2008 / Current Employment: Sayfol International School

Part of a university education is to provide training for a future career through various subjects and tests that all lead to a university degree, which brings career opportunities and a higher pay. UNITAR has gone beyond that. UNITAR taught me that university education is more than memorizing books and facts. It is more than a framed certificate on a wall that can be used to impress future employers. UNITAR's education system is designed to last a lifetime, not just through a career.

UNITAR's great lecturers moulded me to become an effective teacher. Besides my parents and friends, UNITAR lecturers played an important role in helping me achieve a 1st class degree. I am very thankful to all the lecturers who taught me the art and science of teaching. Currently, I am a Mathematics teacher at Sayfol International School. I am imparting all the knowledge and skills that I acquired at UNITAR, through my teaching. I am proud to be a former UNITAR student.

MD FAIZUL ANUAR

I have a long history with UNITAR. I started my first career in the University and a few years later the University offered me a full scholarship on a part-time basis to further my studies with a bachelor degree. I did not think twice and just grabbed the opportunity, of course.

The unique element about UNITAR is its hybrid mode of study where working adults who cannot take time off work to attend classes on weekdays, can still opt for part time classes on weekends.

Being a part time student is no different to full-time learning. The content, quality and course curriculum taught by lecturers are the same. In fact, having working adults from various industries as classmates opens up opportunities for critical thinking, discussions and knowledge sharing, which make classes more interactive and interesting.

Lecturers in UNITAR are second to none. They are sincerely dedicated, and always deliver beyond expectations. Their passion really shines through the creative teaching methods, assisted by state-of-the-art facilities in the University. The efficiency of its support staff, from the frontline to the back-end office is something the University can be really proud of.

I can never thank UNITAR enough for making me what I am today. Learning will never stop and is a lifelong process. If you want an environment that supports learning at your own time and pace, UNITAR is definitely the place to go.
