Q. What are the entry qualifications for Admission into UNITAR International University?

Q. What are the entry English Proficiency Requirements for International Students for Admission into UNITAR International University?
International Students are required to sit for TOEFL or IELTS prior to joining the University. Students who do not have either qualification will have to sit for the UNITAR English Placement Test (UEPT). Please refer to the relevant programme page for more details.
Student Visa
Q. How do I apply for a Student Visa?

Q. How long will it take me to get a Visa Approval Letter (VAL)?
International Student Office will submit the complete documents to EMGS for VAL application. The processing time for VAL may require approximately 6-8 weeks and the issuance'of the VAL is entirely at the discretion of the Immigration Department. The Visa Approval Letter (VAL)'is only valid for 6 months and students must register within the VAL validity period.
Q. What should I do when I receive my Visa Approval Letter (VAL)?
International Student Office will inform the successful student to submit their travel itinerary at least 7 days before arrival at the University based on the fixed arrival timeline. Students must obtain a Single Entry Visa (SEV) from the nearest Malaysian Embassy, except for those who are from countries that are exempted from SEVs, before making travel arrangements.
Q. How can I pay for my registration fee?
All International Students must settle the required registration fee and processing before coming to Malaysia.
Q. What documents do I need to bring along during registration?
Important documents and items:
  • Original passport
  • Offer Letter from the University
  • Immigration Approval Letter
  • Original and photocopies of academic transcripts and certificates
Q. How do I make reservations for accommodation?
Our International Student Office will assist students with regard to accommodation matters. Please contact us via email at internationalstudents@unitar.my
Q. How do I arrange for Airport Pick-up?
The University will provide Airport Pick-Ups when the Pre-Registration down payment requirements from the International Student are fulfilled. Student or student's Agent is to provide information of the arrival time and flight information to the International Student Office approximately 7 days prior to the student's arrival.
Q. When do I get a student pass from Immigration Malaysia?
Once you arrive in Malaysia, you will be required to attend post arrival medical screening within 7 days. International Student Office will collect the successful student's passport for Immigration's endorsement. The processing will take approximately one month and the student will then be informed to collect his/her passport from International Student Office.
Q. What is the mode of payment for Tuition Fees?
