INTRODUCTION
International Conference on Education 4.0 2024 (INCOED 4.0 2024) centering on the theme of education will be organized by Faculty of Education and Humanities of UNITAR International University.
The conference aims to promote the advancement of theory, research, and practices in education. It provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the latest innovations, trends, concerns, and practical challenges in the field of education. Additionally, by bringing together educators from various backgrounds, this conference seeks to bridge the knowledge gaps and address the learning loss resulting from educational inequity and crises. It also promotes the idea of education without borders.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide a robust platform for promoting research among all the active participants in the conference.
- To provide an opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills required to overcome the ongoing educational challenges.
- To collectively discuss the most recent research findings and innovations beyond borders.
- To provide an opportunity for participants to share their research output in context of global education.
- To offer UNITAR students and staff the chance to take ownership and benefit from the experience of organizing an international education conference.
- To foster connections and collaboration among academics, professionals, and students who have diverse interests in education across different disciplines. This platform serves as a space for individuals to engage and network with others both within and outside their specific fields of study.

Prof. Dr. Teresa J. Kennedy is a professor of international STEM and bilingual/ELL education at the University of Texas at Tyler, USA, with a joint appointment at the College of Education and Psychology School of Education and the College of Engineering. Dr. Kennedy’s certifications span multiple disciplines, including Earth Science, Social Studies, and Bilingual Education. She is actively involved in key educational organizations, serving on the International Council of Associations for Science Education Executive Committee; she contributes to UNESCO as Vice President of the NGO Liaison Committee and Liaison to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission for the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.Â
Dr. Kennedy’s research interests include biological and geological oceanography in relation to climate change, ocean literacy, international comparative education, the development of interest in STEM and 21st-century skills, gender and equity issues in STEM, online teaching and learning, content-based second language teaching and learning focused on STEM disciplines, and brain research in relation to second language acquisition and bilingualism. She has presented at more than 400 events and co-edited three international science education books for Springer International (Switzerland): Science Education in Theory and Practice, consisting of 32 chapters (44 authors representing 14 countries); Play and STEM Education in the Early Years: International Policies and Practices, consisting of 22 chapters (47 authors from 16 countries); and Contemporary Issues in Science and Technology Education, consisting of 21 chapters (32 authors representing 11 countries).

Nina has been involved in the Malaysian education system for the past 30 years, as a lecturer, researcher, consultant, publisher, and most importantly, as a mother of three! She has held a variety of leadership roles covering the entire spectrum of learning and development, including Law Faculty Dean at HELP University, CEO of Malaysia Airlines Academy and Asia Pacific Schools. She is currently Executive Director at LeapEd Services, a social enterprise committed to education transformation.
In 2021, she was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for Education Excellence from KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific and now serves as an Adjunct Professor for Strategic Education Planning at UNITAR International University.

Dr. Chandran Abraham holds a PhD in TESL from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Master of Science in TESL from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Bachelor of Education in TESOL from Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom and Postgraduate Counseling Certificate from Moray House Institute of Education, United Kingdom.Â
He is a recipient of the International Award of Fethi Azaiez / Stanley Ndeke Memorial Prize from the United Kingdom. He has more than 40 years of working experience as an educator. He is involved in the implementation of various national and international programmes in the field of Teacher Education, Leadership and Management, and corporate training programmes under the Ministry of Education Malaysia and International organizations.

Datin Lucille Lopez

Datin Lucille Lopez journeyed the teaching profession for the past 36 years in Government High schools, both urban and rural. Amidst being with students which was the pulse of her journey she was also a Master Trainer and this led her to work hand in hand with MOE editing textbooks, translating the syllabus and training teachers.Â
Her passion for creative writing influenced her to conduct various workshops for teachers and students, enabling them to write better. As a Master Teacher-GC, she partnered with her peers in Selangor to design modules and workbooks assisting SPM students. Her 36 years, she looks back with gratitude. She learned more than she taught: cause to her every moment was a lesson, every person was a teacher, and every place was a classroom.

Dr. Shamsul Nizam Bin Kachi Mohideen

Dr. Shamsul Nizam bin Kachi Mohideen is an experienced English Language teacher with 25 years of service, has taught both in rural and boarding schools in Sabah and Selangor. He graduated with a First-Class Honours’ degree in TESOL from Edinburgh University, Scotland, under a twinning programme scholarship with Maktab Perguruan Ilmu Khas, Kuala Lumpur. He continued his postgraduate education in University Malaya (M.Ed TESL) in 2003 and obtained his Doctoral Degree in 2014 from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.Â
He also has academic teaching experience in both private and public universities and has actively been involved as a teacher trainer as well as a consultant and a researcher with UNESCO Jakarta and public universities such as UNIMAS, UKM, USM and UiTM. Currently, he is attached to MOE Malaysia as a Principal Assistant Director overlooking international linkages for all 28 campuses of Teacher Training Institutes across the country.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Ozdem Yilmaz is a science education researcher at the Department of Primary Education at MSKU. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Science Education in 2003, and her Ph.D. in Science Education in 2014 at Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. Before her graduate study, she had been teaching science in elementary and high schools for 4 years in Turkey and teaching Biology in a junior high school in Washington, DC for a year. During her graduate study, she was employed as a research assistant at METU, and at the same time she was involved in nationwide and European-wide projects (FP7, Comenius Multilateral, Erasmus+, & Marie-Curie Actions). When she was a graduate student, she was awarded ESERA travel grant and worked at Bristol University for a month in 2009 and for 3 months in 2013.Â
After having her Ph.D., Dr. Ozdem Yilmaz studied as a post-doctoral researcher at Great Lakes Science Centre (GLSC), Cleveland, OH for a year (2014-2015), and has gained substantive research experience in science communication in science centres. When she returned, she was invited as an expert to Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) to serve in the scientific council during the establishment of science centres in Turkey, and in developing programs for a better science communication at science centres. She also has been in the editorial board of the TUBITAK’s monthly publication, Bilim Cocuk [Science Child] for 4 years.Â
She was a co-PI on a 2018 nationwide research project on developing science teachers’ and science centre explainers’ science communication skills, funded by TUBITAK. She is also a co-PI on a 2020 nationwide research project on developing primary and science teachers’ scientific inquiry teaching skills and works with primary school and elementary school teachers. Dr. Ozdem Yilmaz is a member of the International Council of Associations for Science Education (ICASE) executive committee, Science Education and Research Association in Turkey (FEAD) executive committee, and Science Teachers Association in Turkey (FENODER).

Prof. Dr. Anealka Aziz Hussin is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of education, with a focus on e-learning, corpus-based studies, readability studies, and ELT materials development. She is currently affiliated with the Akademi Pengajian Bahasa at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Shah Alam, Selangor.
She has an extensive academic background, having completed a Ph.D. in Education from UiTM in 2010, an MSc. in TESL from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2003, an MSc in Educational Technology from UPM in 2002, and a Postgraduate Diploma in TESL from Institut Teknologi MARA in 1997. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Economics (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 1996.
She has a great interest in e-learning, instructional design, readability studies and corpus-based research. She has published in journals, chapters in books and served on several journal and conference committees. She has presented papers at conferences and seminars in some countries. She also has conducted training and workshops in e-learning and the application of Education 4.0 in Malaysia. She has won several research and innovation awards for her work in these areas.

Manabu Sumida, Ph.D (sumida.manabu.mm@ehime-u.ac.jp), is a Professor of Science Education in the Faculty of Education at Ehime University, Japan. He holds a Ph.D in Education from Hiroshima University Japan. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Georgia, USA, in 1998 and a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2012–2013. His area of research interest is STEAM education for gifted learners. He is a founder and director of Kids Science Academy, a special science program for gifted young children.Â
He was a committee member of the TIMSS in 2003 and the PISA in 2006 and 2015. He received the International Contribution Award in 2016 and the Academic Award from the Japan Society for Science Education in 2018. Dr. Sumida also received the Ryoji Noyori (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry in 2001) Education Award in 2013 for his innovative science program for gifted young children. He is an executive committee member of the Asia-Pacific Federation on Giftedness for the term 2022–2024. He is President of the Japan Society for Science Education and the Asia Regional Representative of the International Council of Associations for Science Education.

Dr. Monica Cameron, Senior Lecturer at Te Rito Maioha – Early Childhood New Zealand. Dr. Monica Cameron has been involved in early childhood education for nearly 30 years as a student, teacher, professional development facilitator, and in initial teacher education. She has been working in Initial Teacher Education since 2011 and is currently a Senior Lecturer at Te Rito Maioha.  Monica is committed to supporting pre-service and in-service teachers to further their learning through study and research, while continuing to be a learner herself.Â
She particularly enjoys supervising postgraduate students and supporting them in their journey as researchers. Monica has a wide repertoire of research and teaching interests, including assessment, planning and curriculum, intentional teaching and pedagogy, evaluation, inclusion, and leadership. Her publication portfolio includes both individual and collaborative outputs which focus on a number of these topics.

Dr. Michael R.L. Odell

Dr. Michael R.L. Odell, a distinguished Professor of STEM Education and Roosth Endowed Chair at the University of Texas at Tyler, USA. He is renowned for his contributions to education and his innovative leadership. With a Ph.D. from Indiana University in Curriculum and Instruction/ Science Education, Dr. Odell holds joint appointments in the College of Education and Psychology and the College of Engineering. He co-coordinates the Ed.D. in the School Improvement Program and co-directs the UTeach Program, significantly increasing STEM teacher production through initiatives like the UTeach Replication. As a co-founder of the UT Tyler University Academy charter schools, Dr. Odell has fostered a hands-on learning environment, integrating these schools as Laboratory Schools.Â
He also established the Ingenuity Center, one of Texas’s designated STEM Centers, and has played a pivotal role in enhancing research at UT Tyler. Dr. Odell’s administrative roles include Director of the School of Education and Vice President for Sponsored Research. His prolific contributions encompass numerous publications and securing over $60 million in grants, contracts, and royalties. His courses span teaching science, physical geology and astronomy, current educational issues, and project-based instruction, reflecting his diverse expertise and dedication to advancing STEM and education policy.

- Abstract must NOT exceed 250 words in a single paragraph.
- Before submitting your paper, please ensure it has been carefully read for typographical and grammatical errors.
- Papers should be submitted as a .doc (E.g. paper_name.doc) attachment by email.
