Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)
1. Is UNITAR really giving away gold? How does it work?
Yes, it’s real. Students who register for the May 2025 intake (which includes April, May, and June entries) and meet the eligibility criteria listed in our Terms & Conditions will stand a chance to win a 20g 999 gold bar. It’s like a lucky draw — winners are selected randomly.
2. Who is eligible to participate in the gold giveaway campaign?
- Must register for UNITAR’s May 2025 intake (April, May, or June entry).
- Must be a Malaysian citizen.
- Open to all programmes — including both online and face-to-face modes.
- Must complete payment of required fees or have:
- PTPTN loan approved
- EPF/HRDF claim approved
- Scholarship officially confirmed
- Existing UNITAR students can also join if they refer a friend under the SGS Referral Programme.
- If you withdraw, your entry will be automatically forfeited.
3. Do I need to register for a specific programme to qualify?
No. The campaign is open to all programmes — from Certificate to PhD — for both on-campus and online students.
4. If I registered earlier but haven’t started class yet, am I still eligible?
Yes. As long as you registered for April, May, or June 2025 intakes, you’re in.
5. Is the Gold giveaway in addition to scholarships and bursaries for the January 2025 intake?
Yes — it’s a separate campaign. Students who qualify for PTPTN, scholarships, or bursaries are still eligible to join the gold giveaway. It’s an added reward, not a replacement.
6. If I receive financial aid, will it reduce my chances of winning gold?
Not at all. Your financial aid status doesn’t affect your eligibility or chances.
7. How will the winners be selected?
Winners will be selected through a computerised random draw. Each region will have at least one winner, and some participants may receive additional entries if they attend UNITAR events held between 15 April and 30 June 2025.
8. If I get PTPTN or a scholarship, can I still win gold?
Yes. The giveaway is a separate reward. Receiving financial aid does not affect your eligibility.
9. When will I find out if I’ve won?
Winners will be contacted after their eligibility is confirmed, which includes verification of PTPTN disbursement or confirmation of any approved funding (EPF, HRDF, scholarships). This is expected around August 2025, but may change based on management’s decision. We’ll contact winners directly via phone or WhatsApp.
10. How many winners will there be?
A total of 52 students nationwide will win a 20g gold bar. Every region will have at least one winner.
11. How will I be notified if I win?
Winners will be notified via WhatsApp or phone call. If you don’t respond within two (2) business days, UNITAR will select another winner.
12. How do I collect the gold if I win?
The gold bar will be delivered to your registered campus. You’ll need to collect it in person on the agreed date and sign an acknowledgement form.
13. Can I send someone else to collect the gold on my behalf?
No. Winners must collect the prize themselves with a valid ID.
14. Can I exchange the gold for money or transfer it to someone else?
No. The gold is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
15. What if I can’t attend the prize-giving ceremony?
If you’re unable to attend without a valid reason, UNITAR may forfeit the prize and select a new winner.
16. Why is UNITAR giving away gold? Isn’t that like bribing students?
Not at all. The gold is symbolic — it represents the value of each student. Just like gold, their worth can grow over time — especially when they’re given the right platform and support. That’s what we aim to provide at UNITAR. It’s a way of celebrating students who take the step to invest in themselves — because at the end of the day, the real reward is the education they carry with them for life.
