UNITAR Covid-19 Update 2: Temporary Closure and Postponement of Semester Commencement
Tuesday, March 17, 2020
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has evolved rapidly since being detected in Wuhan, in the Hubei Province of China in December 2019. It has continued to pose a significant health threat to the general public and has now evolved to become a public health emergency of international concern.
In view of the announcement made by the Government of Malaysia regarding the temporary closure of higher education institutions due to the Covid-19 outbreak, please be informed that UNITAR International University will be closed from the 18th of March to the 31st of March 2020. As a result, the management of UNITAR has decided to postpone the commencement of the April semester from 6th of April 2020 to the 27th of April 2020. However, the special examinations will commence on the 11th and 12th of April 2020.
We have been made to understand that some of our outstation students who have completed their examinations did not return to their respective hometowns and are currently in the Klang Valley. We wish to assure you that appropriate measures will be put in place to ensure your well-being. Please log on to your student email to keep yourself updated with more information.
We regret the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and the decision to postpone the semester commencement, but it was a decision we had to take, given the current scenario we are faced with. We wish to remind you to stay safe during this period by practicing personal hygiene and observing the prohibition of movement and mass assembly, as set by the government.
