UNITAR Launches Sino-Malaysia “Silk-Road College” Modern Apprenticeship Joint Training Programme

Petaling Jaya, 18 April 2024 – In efforts to promote globalised education, UNITAR International University (“UNITAR”) has partnered with the Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute (JNPI) and Zhejiang Jingxing Paper Joint Stock Co Ltd. (Jingxing Holdings Sdn. Bhd.) to introduce a Modern Apprenticeship Joint Training Programme. This collaboration between the parties is set to award students a Diploma in Mechatronics Technology upon completion with an opportunity for employment in Malaysia.
This partnership is a year in the making with the cooperation framework agreement of the Sino-Malaysia Silk Road School being signed at the Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, on March 22, 2023. This began a wholesome avenue for beneficial initiatives between both institutions.
The Modern Apprenticeship Joint Training Programme will be divided into 3 parts within the programme’s 3-year duration. In the first year, students will be required to study basic courses at UNITAR’s campus in Malaysia. Following this, their credits will be transferred to Jiaxing Nanyang Polytechnic Institute in China to fulfil programme requirements in mechatronics technology. Finally, students will return to complete their internship at Zhejiang Jingxing’s factory located in Banting, Malaysia.

Dr. Sahol Hamid bin Abu Bakar, Vice-Chancellor of UNITAR, at the launch of this programme.
The Modern Apprenticeship Joint Training Programme will begin accepting candidates immediately and is set to welcome the first batch of students in May 2024. The programme promises students to gain exponential opportunities by graduating with a quality education and becoming strong income generators with a rewarding career in Malaysia.
This collaboration is another progressive step between the institutions involved to showcase their magnificent capabilities as leading educational institutions within Malaysia and China.
