Flipping the pages on a delightful note, we are now ready to embark on another month of impressive highlights. Bringing you along with us to be a part of this journey was nothing short of thrilling as it brought present and future students together, revisiting the best highlights that happened at UNITAR in previous months.  

Since our first newsletter was published back in February, UNITAR has successfully partnered with established global institutions, fostered fruitful cooperation with the likes of many industry heavyweights, both locally and globally as well as hosted a slew of exciting events to boost the spirit of UNITARians.

Dean’s List Award Ceremony 2024  

UNITARians who excelled in their January 2024 semester were recognised for their outstanding performance by being awarded the Dean’s List award. The award ceremony was proudly held at UNITAR’s Main Campus in Kelana Jaya. Being a proud recipient of the Dean’s List award displays traits unmatched by any other. It displays true passion, tenacity, and an unparalleled drive to succeed beyond one’s expectations.

UNITAR with the Penang State Government Offer Scholarships Worth RM1 Million for the Second Consecutive Year 

UNITAR Education Group (“UNITAR”), in collaboration with the Penang State Government, reaffirmed its commitment to providing learning opportunities to Penangites through the B40 Education initiative. For the second consecutive year, RM1 million was allocated for full scholarships, benefiting 20 deserving students from the B40 category. 

The scholarship awarding ceremony was held at Seri Mutiara, the official residence of The Yang di-Pertua Negeri of The State of Penang.

Organised by the Singapore Education Network, UNITAR in partnership with Inspera organised an event with the theme “The Impact of Digital Assessment and AI in Higher Education”. This event provided a unique opportunity to engage with experts learn about cutting-edge advancements and collaborate with peers to shape the future of education in the digital age. Among the experts were:

FEH Education Summit  

UNITAR was absolutely thrilled to host the Faculty of Education and Humanities Education Summit, a dynamic gathering focused on exploring the latest trends, innovations and best practices in education, with a keen focus on addressing the most pressing issues in early childhood and special education. 

The summit brought together industry experts, international speakers and parents from diverse backgrounds, including representatives from New Zealand, Les’ Copaque (Upin & Ipin) and specialists in early childhood and special education.

Leadership Workshop: Speak to LEAD 

Conducted by Srinivas KM, Maxwell Leadership Certified Team, Professional Speaker, Trainer, Coach, DISC Trainer and Youth Programme Facilitator, UNITARians engaged in a dynamic session that focused on enhancing public speaking and leadership skills in the Leadership Workshop: Speak to LEAD. 

The workshop, brought by Toastmasters International provided valuable insights and practical techniques, empowering attendees to communicate more effectively and lead with confidence.

UNITAR Future Leaders of Malaysia 

As part of its partner school initiative, UNITAR welcomed over 400 secondary students from various schools across the Klang Valley to the UNITAR Future Leaders Workshop. This event, dedicated to nurturing the future leaders of Malaysia, provided a platform for young minds to develop essential skills and knowledge. 

The workshops were centred around Edward de Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats method, a powerful tool that encourages parallel thinking and fosters creative problem-solving. Throughout the day, students engaged in a series of interactive workshops designed to enhance their critical thinking, collaboration and leadership abilities.

UNITAR and BPMB Kick Off The Upward Mobility Programme for Career Advancement 

The Upward Mobility Programme in partnership between UNITAR and BPMB (Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) welcomed 18 new students who are esteemed staff members of Bank BPMB. This cohort consisted of individuals from clerical, non-clerical and associate ranks (Rank N5), all eager to advance their careers and skill sets. 

The Upward Mobility Programme is meticulously designed to cater to non-executive staff members, providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in an evolving technological landscape. Over the span of eight months, participants will engage in a comprehensive curriculum aimed at upskilling and empowering them to navigate and leverage new technologies effectively.

Inspiring Journeys: Destiny Dialogues with UNITAR IT Alumnus Datuk Dr. Alzamani Mohammad Idrose 

UNITAR was honoured to host Datuk Dr. Alzamani Mohammad Idrose, a distinguished UNITAR Master of Information Technology (formerly known as Master of Information Technology Management) alumnus, at our recent Destiny Dialogues: Conversations with Alumni session.  

Currently pursuing his Doctor of Business Administration at UNITAR, Datuk Dr. Alzamani serves as the Head of the Paediatrics Emergency Department at Hospital Tunku Azizah and as a Consultant Emergency Physician at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. He shared invaluable insights into his professional journey and how his education at UNITAR has shaped his illustrious career.

Exploring the Best Offerings for Everyone at UNITAR’s Clubs and Societies Open Day 

Travelling back in time to the 90s, UNITAR’s Clubs and Societies gathered to welcome all students so they could explore the diverse offerings of the university. This opened avenues for new students to know more about UNITAR as well as provided opportunities for long-time students at UNITAR to explore different ways in how they could further amplify each club and society through their talents.

In the Spotlight: UNITAR Accounting Students Stand Out at 22nd National Intervarsity Accounting Quiz  

UNITAR’s Accounting students recently engaged in the 22nd National Intervarsity Accounting Quiz (Online) organised by MMU Accounting Club. With guidance from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and support from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), they showcased their skills and knowledge in a competitive setting. 

Their participation underscores UNITAR’s commitment to fostering excellence in accounting education and preparing students for professional success in the global arena.

FIRMAN Empire Consultation Shows Students How It’s Done 

Tagging along with UNITAR International University, over 300 SPM candidates were welcomed to attend the “Teknik Menghafal Sejarah” at our main campus in Kelana Jaya. The seminar was powered by the renowned Cikgu Fir who equipped students with excellent strategies for memorising their SPM History paper content. 

Adding to the excitement, UNITAR surprised everyone by awarding five Lenovo tablets to five lucky students, adding an exciting element to an already insightful day.  

At UNITAR, we are constantly evolving, adapting to explosive changes that are happening in the booming workforce and nurturing learners to become market-ready graduates. Our exhilarating drive to forge high-quality partnerships, and organising exciting events to promote an admirable student experience has been our commitment from the get-go.
