Foundation in Information Technology is designed to provide students with an inclusive understanding of the theory and application of information technology and multimedia. This programme also offers fundamentals in the areas of internet and web publishing, programming, multimedia and database.

Programme Entry Requirements
You must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for entry to the UNITAR Foundation Programme:
  • Pass SPM / SPMV or its equivalent, with five (5) credits including English, Mathematics and other subjects (preferably in Additional Mathematics and Science subjects); OR
  • Pass UEC with a minimum of Grade B in three (3) subjects; OR
  • Pass O-Level with a minimum of Grade C in five (5) subjects;OR
  • Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.
  • Foundation’s program (level 3, MQF) through APEL. Applicants must be a Malaysian citizen aged more than 19 years of age in the year of application with relevant work experience and passed APEL Assessment

Pathway to any Accounting/Business/Management related Bachelor Degree course.

Malaysian students who enroll in UNITAR Foundation and Diploma programmes are required to take ALL English courses listed in their respective programme structures, beginning with English 1 (Diploma) and Listening and Speaking Skills (Foundation).

International Students are required to sit for TOEFL or IELTS prior to joining the university. Students who do not have either qualification will have to sit for the UNITAR English Placement Test (UEPT).

The English Language Entry Requirements for International Students at UNITAR International University are as follows:

  • IELTS: International English Language Testing System
  • TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language
  • UEPT: UNITAR English Placement Test
Validity period of the IELTS or TOEFL qualification is TWO (2) years from the date of award. UNITAR does not accept any other English proficiency qualification or certificate except for the IELTS or TOEFL qualifications.

International Students who do not possess either the IELTS or TOEFL qualification (or do not have the required score band) will be required to sit for the UNITAR-administered English Placement Test (UEPT).

International Students who acquire the required score band of English based on the UEPT will be able to sit for the IELTS examination and to register for their Faculty courses once they obtain the IELTS result.

International Students who acquire a lower score band of English based on the UEPT will be placed in the appropriate level of proficiency and are required to complete and pass Intensive English Programme(IEP) before registering for their IELTS examination and Faculty courses.
